SENATE BILL 3022
On July 23, 2010, Governor Quinn signed Senate Bill 3022 into law. The bill, introduced by representatives working with and for the Fraternal Order of Police, created a new section, section 5-214.3. This new section will afford current and future Chicago Police Officers the opportunity to purchase (port) up to two years of service for time spent in the United States Armed Forces, prior to their date of hire with the Chicago Police Department. Fund staff is currently working with our Actuary in developing the administrative tools to determine the member cost for such service.
